Human rights protection of survivors of genocide and ethnic cleansing
The term 'genocide' was first used in 1944 by lawyer Raphael Lemkin to refer to Nazi crimes against European Jews leading to the mass destruction of this group. As the years have passed, this term has expanded in order to have a broader knowledge of its implications and thus, be able to strengthen international capacities for its prevention and post recovery efforts. While some experts agree that Ethnic Cleansing and Genocides are both the same, some others believe that the objectives may vary from one another. In any case, both these issues represent a threat to different ethnic groups and cultures. In that regard, it is of great importance to uphold new ideas with the purpose of protecting the human rights of the people affected, more specifically of survivors of genocide and ethnic cleansing.

Hi, I am Carolina González, I am 17 years old and I am an Information Systems Engineering student at UPC. I started my MUN path, independently, in 2018, and I have been part of ISD (Independent Students' Delegation) since the beginning of 2020. In this occasion, I am pleased to be your Assistant Director in the SOCHUM committee of the second edition of ISDMUN. I am sure it will be an incredible assembly and will contribute a lot to your growth as delegates. I am so excited to meet you all!
Best wishes!

Hi there! My name is Franco Farfán (he/him) and I'm currently a 2nd year IB student (yeah... I know a thing or two about mental crisis). Sochum has a very special place in my heart and I hope it does on you too during this conference. In spite of the pressure MUN puts on delegates, please remember to relax and have some good ideas for the fun time! At the end of the day, conferences are a hobby to enjoy. I wish you all the best!
